I changed the music on my site!

Check it out... I just love this song!

A Little Tidbit

So I thought I would share with you what it was in particular that made me choose the top ten as the top ten. In all honesty it had nothing to do with the technical merit of an image, though most of these are decent enough. It had everything to do with emotion, how each image made me feel when I saw them. Here goes:

Mom's Bliss: The title probably tells a lot about why I picked it. As a Mom, it absolutely delights me when my own children enjoy each other and show love to one another. Those two are soaking each other up at that moment, in their "I don't want to admit it but I like my brother/ sister" way. It makes me happy.

"I am a Dreamer": I really think she looks like she is dreaming, like all the world around her is just at a standstill, and she is there, in the moment, dreaming like all girls her age do. I wonder what she is dreaming about, I wonder what her future will bring, and I appreciate what a quiet sweet soul she is.

"Once Upon a Dream" Doesn't she just look like she is making a wish in a magic wishing well? It is fantasy, and for a moment she gets to live in another world. I love her hair blowing in the wind, too, and how she almost glows in her pure white dress.

"Sister Secrets" Maybe because I am so fond of these two sweet sisters I just love this image. I think it so beautifully illustrates their relationship and their personalities, and it embodies the joy of being a sister for anyone who has one, or anyone (like me) who always wished they did.

"Kinetic Joy" I think I want to dance when I see this, dance and be full of joy, laughter, and all that being alive is all about. It moves me, energizes me, and makes me want to be present. I just love it.

"Sweet Cheeks" What can I say about this one except, hello, is she not the cutest little thing you have ever seen? Look at those eyes, and truly, she is this serious every time I see her. It's just her.

"At Day's End" This little one just moved at a hundred miles an hour for this entire session, he never stopped, that is, until this moment. It was like his gas just ran out and this little weed got his attention on the ground and he plopped down to study it in his intense toddler way. I was delighted to discover that he plopped down in the most beautiful setting sunlight, the best light we had that day. It was beautiful up there at the Rocks Estate, and he was as precious as any little boy could be.

"2008 and Beyond" I LOVE this image. I think she looks drop dead gorgeous and there she is, right in the middle of her own little town that will change so much over the years to come, just as much as she will. This girl is a Believer in Jesus Christ, so I see her future is in good hands.

"A Part of Her" I feel like I can look into her soul. Aren't her eyes so beautiful? She is so young, yet somehow her eyes have something wise behind them, and playful and fun all at the same time. Sweetness, pure sweetness. Plus, I love the crop!

"The Good Boy" He started out the session very shy, and his Mom even said that he did not like his picture being taken. It was amazing to see him relax and gradually he even acted as though he enjoyed himself. He really put his heart into his pictures, like he was doing it for his Mom. He's a good boy, and I can see it in his eyes in this image.

Here's another favorite of mine from the year...Look, they're having fun together!!!

Meeting David Jay

I spent the day today gleaning all kinds of brilliant words of wisdom from THE David Jay, world renowned wedding photographer, in his marketing/ workflow seminar in Concord. And though I have said many many times in the past that I will NOT, no way no how not ever do weddings, I might now be persuaded to do a bitty one. Maybe. He is so flippin amazing!!!!!!! Check out his site but bring a tissue, b/c if weddings make you cry, his site will make you sob.....

And as if meeting David Jay wasn't enough, I also got to spend the day with another of my favorite photographers of all time, my good friend, Megan Peck. She drove in from Massachussettes. Luv ya Megan!!

Here we are... (this was taken w/ a camera phone)

Once Upon a Dream

Sweet Cheeks

2008 and Beyond

The Good Boy

I am a Dreamer

A Big congratulations to the finalists. This was an incredibly tough process. I did more than 60 sessions last year and shot over 9000 images! I have favorites from every session, so narrowing it down to 10 was at times, excruciating!

So...here are the rules, they are easy peezy-
You can vote for your image once per day. Your friends, family, co-workers, just about anyone you know, can also vote once per day. NO hacking, bribing your neighbors (or me), or cheating of any kind allowed- play nice! :) Spread the word, the image with the most votes at 11:59 pm on February 15th will be crowned the Best of 2007. Now that is one cool title! See the previous post for details on prizes.

Congrats everyone, and GOOD LUCK!!!

Coming Soon- Best of 2007 Photo Contest!!!!!

I just want to give you a heads up- I have been fervently working to choose my top 10 favs from all of my sessions from 2007 which, I might add, is no easy task! I have literally thousands of images to go through to narrow it down to just 10. Then, I will post those ten and for those of you who end up in the top ten, you will have the opportunity to get as many people to vote for your image as possible. Here's the fun part- if yours wins the coveted Best of 2007 title, you will win a $50 gift certificate to Art to Go, Littleton's hip wearable art gallery. Buy yourself a pair of handmade earrings, some Dr. Hauschka's all organic makeup collection, or have your hair cut by Nick Arrojo trained Kate Goldsborough. (For those of you that don't know Nick you have to watch TLC's What Not To Wear.) In addition, you will receive a FREE 8x10 of the image, mounted on styrene for display on a picture stand, and of course for bragging rights. PLUS receive a FREE session fee for your next session which is currently $75. (Not transferrable) The winning image will also be featured on my business card and other marketing
pieces for 2008! Stay Tuned!!
This is one of my personal favs of 2007, but the subject belongs to me, so not eligible! :)

Sarah Groves..Tell Me What You Know

It's hard to find good music that moves me anymore, kwim? Maybe I am becoming less sensitive and a bit cynical at times....but this album got me. I wanted to share the lyrics to the one that sort of speaks of where I am most of the time.

lord ❈ i have a heavy burden of all i’ve seen and know ❈ it’s more than i can handle ❈ but your word is burning like a fire shut up in my bones ❈ and i can’t let it go ❈ and when i’m weary and overwrought ❈ with so many battles left unfought ❈ i think of paul and silas in the prison yard ❈ i hear their song of freedom rising to the stars ❈ and when the Saints go marching in ❈ i want to be one of them ❈ lord it’s all that i can’t carry and cannot leave behind ❈ it all can overwhelm me ❈ but when i think of all who’ve gone before and lived a faithful life ❈ their courage compels me ❈ and when i’m weary and overwrought ❈ with so many battles left unfought ❈ i think of paul and silas in the prison yard ❈ i hear their song of freedom rising to the stars ❈ i see the shepherd moses in the pharaohs court ❈ i hear his call for freedom for the people of the Lord ❈ chorus x2 ❈ i see the long quiet walk along the underground railroad ❈ i see the slave awakening to the value of her soul ❈ i see the young missionary and the angry spear ❈ i see his family returning with no trace of fear ❈ i see the long hard shadows of calcutta nights ❈ i see the sister standing by the dying man’s side ❈ i see the young girl huddled on the brothel floor ❈ i see the man with a passion come kicking down that door ❈ i see the man of sorrow and his long troubled road ❈ i see the world on his shoulders and my easy load ❈

What's New For 2008

Oh I so love the new year! It gives us the chance to freshen things up, change, embrace a clean slate, and move ahead! I wish you all a superb 2008!
With that being said, I have many fresh changes that are sure to bring a smile to your face. I will show you my favorite first.

This is the new gallery mount. Your image is heat fused to a 3/4" beveled board with a black or white border, then coated and textured. It comes ready to hang with no need for a frame. This is my most favorite image of my children so I decided to order one of these in a 24X36! This one pictured is an 11x16, a gift for my mother and father in law for Christmas. ( I hope they don't read my blog!!!) My new one should be hanging in my office within a couple of weeks, so feel free to stop in to take a look.

More New Stuff
*All prints 11x14 and larger will now be luster coated and mounted on art board.

*Wall Display Options will now be included with your proofing gallery. These will help you decide how to arrange your new photographs in the most artful and decorative way. I will offer a 15% discount on images ordered in the display option I present to you.

This is an example of a wall display option with one 20x20 and four 10x10 images.

*PHOTO HANDBAGS are Here!! These are so FUN and CUTE!!!! Here are a few examples:

These start at about $150. Your image is printed directly on the fabric which is a very durable microfiber. I hope to have one of these soon to be able to show off to you!!

My prices are changing quite a bit, too, but you knew they would have to go up eventually! You can check out my website under the details/ investment for a full line up of 2008 prices.

I am now offering $25 off your session fee if you book by January 15th for February or March sessions. (I am already booked for January, except for newborns under two weeks old.)
